Finding the time to keep up on this blog is always been a struggle but I can't stop thinking about the next posted. I have really enjoyed stopping and recording months, seasons, and/or days events. As I know this blog needs a lot of work, I am glad I haven't given up. I have hit my one year blog mark. I hope to hit many more. I hope you stay tune. I never know when I need my camera, so I leave it out all time. I usually keep it in the kitchen. If I don't have the camera with me I snap with my iPhone. Here is a slideshow of the gather October Pictures. Share early, share often! Liz
This week was a very stressful week. But finding the time to see the good is what pulled me through. So, I title this posted finding the time, because lately I am having a hard time finding the time to get everything and then some, done. I have been wanting to get some family photos shot but never seems to happen. I got a call on Sunday from my older sister and she said how about today. YES! Let's just do it. As the stress level rose in the house... my husband wanting to be in the fields, I wanting to work on my countless projects, and the kids just wanting to play. We all stopped for few seconds to SAVOR the MOMENT, of being a family! Share early, share often! Liz
Bright lights.. This week my high school had a visiting artist from California that work in neon glass medium. It is always so interesting to see how other make it. He has a forever stamp and does work for Katy Perry, all in which the students found cool. I spent $5 dollars at the Dollar store on these glow sticks and my family had a 2 hours of fun. We started outside in back yard. Then put them in the bath tube. The kids thought it was the coolest bath ever. Isabella even thank me for doing it. Then after the bath time we hide them around the house in the dark and then we found them. It was pure family fun. Share early, share often! Liz Just want to share another exciting opportunity in classroom. I had Ryan Moore, a motion graphic designer via Skype into my Tiffin University Digital Design class. He shared his experience and knowledge of rebranding VH1 and Style Channel network logo. Really neat. Next time I watch Dance with the Star, and see the motion graphic, he design it. Ya.. he the real deal! If like to see the lesson and his video reel, I posted to my class website http://tudigitalart.weebly.com/week-82.html.
The school year has been crazy nuts with many exciting thing happening. The first week of class a student ask if we get to glass blow in ceramic class. Having to tell student no, but instead that we will get to fuse glass and put liquid glass (which is glaze) on their projects. I did some research and found a local place called Crystal Traditions. The glass cutter is name Aidan Scully, his work is amazing. He been commission by the Pope and 3 Presidents. Could believe someone that famous lives in same town. Pretty neat experience for my students and I.
Exciting opportunities have been happen inside the classroom this month. I taken my college Digital Design class to local Advertiser Tribune news paper, to see behind the scene how a newspaper is put together. We just finished talking about layout and now they working on logo design. Here some snap of the event. Share early, Share often! Liz
Sometimes I get to excited about sharing that I just can't wait. This is what happen with this new website called remind 101. A colleague shared this site with me and I feel in love with it, but I didn't realize that she was planning on sharing it with are whole staff. I didn't mean to step on her toes but I threw it out in email on how it work for me before she got to share it. Sometime control my excitement is harder then I know. About the site it is called Remind 101 there is also a FREE app for this- it's a safe way for teachers to text message students/players and keep in touch with parents. Developed by Brett Kopf and David Kopf, I have to agree with their statement with having a hard time to communicate between teachers, students, and parents. Just last week, I said to my students did you get that email. I got that blank look on their face “what email.” To find a better way I found this site/app. Think for a minute, when you pick up your phone what do you check first? If your like me, you will check missed calls or missed messages. For me my email ranked 3rd in being checked. Hope you check it out, you may find it useful. Share early, share often! But be careful!
