Growing up, I remember summer time be the time my sisters and I would get out my mom red Betty Crocker's cookbook and experiment with new recipes. I also remember my mom yelling at us girls, not to heat up the house in the summer. The air is on, she would say! So, the oven cooking was done early in morning or late at night, or before mom was home from work. My family just recently visited the Amish and one of things I noticed driving by the Amish homes is that smoke was coming out of the home chimney. WOW, that has to be hot! I guess that why older timers would have a summer kitchens. I guess we call our summer kitchen, a grill. So, not to warm up the house I going to share with you some EASY, FAST, KEEP YOUR HOUSE COOL, recipes I am trying out this summer. Feel free to try them out! My old principal would end every morning announcement by saying "Make it a GOOD day or Not, the choice is yours." The students would have the quote memorized by the end of the second week of school. I would also find my self say it along with him to. What is a perfect day? This summer I am planning on attending a conference with a keynote speaker, Kelly Croy. When I saw a flyer that said he is an artist and educator, I said sign me up. I haven't seen his presentation yet but I did some research on him that lead me to his blog post called a Perfect Day. I felt it was worth sharing, especially the part about Benjamin Franklin schedule from 1750. Here my schedule from 2013 What's your schedule? I hope you able to make the most of all your moments, and your day will be perfect! Make it a good day or not, the choice is yours!
Share early, share often.~ Liz It was a nice father day just hang out at Grandpa's farm as a family. No big fancy plans just doing nothing but yet everything at the same time. Happy fathers day.
Share early, share often. ~Liz I new it was going to be hard to let my daughter go on vacation with Grandma & Grandpa for a whole week without me. I so want to tell Grandma no, you can't take her. She hasn't been apart for me for more then 1-2 days, and always been drive distance way. But I new I need to suck up my mother seperation depression and let her go...let her have own adventures and create her own memories. I have excitement to see her return. I deep cleaned her bed room. Took down some baby pictures of her that were hang on her walls. I hung up new age appropriate pictures for her. I can't believe how fast time goes. A little touch of mom art work that I made for her. "Good parents give their children Roots and Wings. Roots to know where home is, wings to fly away and exercise what's been taught them." Share early, and share often. ~Liz
You can always change your plan, but only if you have one. I'm a big believer in to-do lists. It helps break life into smaller steps to accomplish what seem to be the impossible into the possible. This summer my plan is to make the most of my summer with my kids. To do at least ONE fun thing with my kids a day. I don't want my summer to go by and say, we should of did this or try that. Let's do it! Few fun list I collect and compile to create my own family fun bucket list.
Over the Moon- Summer Jar Six sisters stuff.com- 50 outdoor fun and of course Pinterest. We like to attend our neighborhood Memorial day parade. For the longest time one of kids are afraid. Still working on liking the loud noises, candy being toss, strange people dress up, fancy cars, and road being open. The boys loved the tractors. Like this last picture because I got my son back with his basketball tape number he had me put on his t-shirt that day Picking up candy. By the end of the parade they had a whole bucket full of candy, o mine. The start of summer has arrive, enjoy! Share early, share often! Liz
My little girl LOVES to dance. This is year three and no stopping her moves. I found it really neat this year she danced to :et's Go Fly A Kite, the same song mommy sang and danced to when she was in Kindergarten. Share early, share often! Liz
Have you ever try this? Putting marshmallow creme and vanilla wafer roll in your hot cocoa. Yummy! All winter long we have been enjoying this simple treat. My kids seem to ask for it every time they come in form playing out in the cold. Share early, Share often! Liz
This morning was golden moment, my 6 year old daughter made us breakfast in bed. As you can see from the picture, the food wasn't gourmet but the effort superb! When asked her how she did it, because we usually get her breakfast. She said it was really hard work. She had to pour full gallon of milk (Ahhh) on to the cereal and then carry the trays up a steep flight of steps. Plus she had to do it twice, one for Mom and one for Dad. Then I came downstair and got her a bowl of cereal. Ya, no bowl left used them for soup last night. Dishwasher is running, now. This was best part of this week by far! Everyone was sick with highly contagious viral infection. I am glad it is the weekend and everyone starting to feel better. Share early, share often! Liz
Back to work. Yes, I have been in the classroom for about 2 weeks now. As I love my job, I sure did cherish my time with my family. Few snaps of my time together.
