"When writing the story of your life, don't let anyone else hold the pen." Each week I hope to share the happenings and joys of our home.
Here is a continuing of the things we have done to get ready for holidays. Week 3This was a very fun app called Elf Yourself. It is free and you can download more pay ones. My husband and kids enjoy this so much we put it on big TV and download more to watch. It was a whole night o f laughs. This was another free app that I tried with the kids one day. They love it but had so many questions. Like why isn't Red (our elf on the shelf) in the pictures. Of course I said, Red was recording them having a party. They talk about it for days. App is called Santa Spy Camera. Just recorded our Christmas tree for this one. This was my favorite activity of the whole season, the live nativity drive thru. Kids all got to sit in front seat on top of are laps and listen to nativity story. When the angles appear at birth of Christ they start to sing and so did my daughter. It was cutest and so touching. I started to cry. The sheep was pregnant, too. Took hot cocoa and oreo. Sis is showing little brother the nativity. Getting ready for the Christmas sing-long party. He going to be a reindeer. Art time.. what a mess.. NINJAbread.. Love last picture of them discussing how to pose for picture. Baking isn't usually my thing but this kits was nice. Christmas bath was fun. Kids couldn't wait for bath time. Had surprise them by decorating the bathroom with lights, their Christmas art work, balloons, foam, shaving cream, food color bath water, and holiday music playing. My husband even enjoy taking his shower that night with Xmas lights. I said you could turn on the light he said, no I kind of like it. I guess something different. I like this picture.. I may use this some other day. The snow storm was perfect timing with this activity. I had sled, movie, or ice skating wrote down. It was so much fun. Have more pictures I will post later to remember. Week 4Kids love when I turn the refrigerator into something else. They usually help me think of ideas, snowman, bunny rabbit, etc. Look what Red did... I brought these 3D glass for going to the lights. Before After- Put glasses on you should see snowmen. Below are some more pictures of activities. Movie night didn't turn out like I want. I forgot my computer adapter at school because I left my book bag at school. Did the Build and Grow at Lowes, made a train. Hung up Christmas light with dad. Made heart shape pancake for breakfast in front of Christmas tree. Picture of my new nephew, he is so cute. Red, TP Christmas tree & Tic Tac Toe. Made homemade christmas cookies to give to others. Things didn't always go as planned. But what is nice is that each night I get the warmth and love form each of my children.
Merry Christmas and savor your holiday moments. Share early, share often. Liz If like me you hate how season can be all commercialize. Do this, do that, that it all can be overwhelming. So, this year I did this... Each envelope contains, an alphabet letters that they must say and write for practice. A Christmas pictures is associated with each alphabet letter. Then a bible passage reading that I read to them. Then a activity to do for that day. I thought ahead on what day we would be doing what, example I planned to go out for dessert the night of my son Christmas concert because I knew it would work out best for our family. Here are links that helped me organize: Alphabet Letters, Advent Scripture, Activity list, some where last year. If you search pinterest you find a lot. Chose one that fits you and your family. I think these activities has made the season so much richer and managable for me. Savor the moments- Liz It's that time of year... what I like the most is making holiday memories with the family. I put together a quick Christmas Fun spread sheet with ideas to try this year. I did something similar last year and just build on it this year. Week 1Love these German Chocolate Advent Calendar that my mom brought home form Germany for us. We usually fight on who get to eat them. I usually break them in 1/2, then it's a fight who will get the number and who will get the pictures. Red, returns. Advent wreath making Letter to Santa. Our new family tradition the sparkle box. I love the story about giving a present to Jesus. Looking forward to open it up on Christmas to read all good things everyone did. " Can I open the sparkle box?" Not yet! PLEASE, MOM! NO.. put it down. Week 2O' Red. St. Nick came and I am helping my brother put his puzzle together. Finding a Christmas tree was not simple task. Week 3 and 4, I posted next.
Savoring the Holidays Moments together~liz Like any job you have love hate relationship towards it. As the semester is winding down, I reflect on some neat projects my students did this year. This one below is old pictures from are town and two students went around and re-snap a current photo in the same spots. Kind of neat. This girl has so much creative juices and she only a sophomore. The students did the Hockney project. Always a fun one. Bully the word of 2013. Over used in my book. 3d- Pop out I add a new section in Digital Art and Design called Beyond the Print. We did cyanotypes, canvas prints, Clear Tape with old book pages, glass prints, and 3D prints. I hope to build on this because the students seem to really like this part of class. In Ceramic, students are assembling their wind chimes. I am loving them and the sounds the clay makes as hits. I have wind chimes hang up all over my classroom. This student make his own raps. He has just excellent in video technology class. I believe he has his own youtube channel with all the projects on it. I know I am missing so many other great projects. But I just want to stop for a few seconds and share a little of creativity happenings in the classroom.
