Swim classes were 2 week long. Not long enough for Isabella, to long for Sam. Isabella experience was awesome. Made a new best friend. Got upset when rain cancel one day. Sam experience not so good. Only 2 1/2 days of actually getting into the water. But enjoyed watching it and playing in the baby pool. What's a mother to do... "Let them be little.. they are only that way for awhile." Right! I love summer! Going outside is..... I think this dinosaur is actually a carnivore and not a herbivore. My sister Rachel would be happy to know I finally got the swing set re-strained. Only took 2 years, but it looks better. Still like my husband to build a wood roof for it. The cloth/plastic roofs just rip apart. We went through 2 of them. Kids enjoyed helping, if you call it helping. Share early, share often. Liz
Feeling of overwhelmed is part of ever human, right! There is a time every year that this is the case for me. The start of a new school year. Time when I can't sleep. When I wishing I did this or that. That feeling of, can I do it. CHANGE. This summer reading included this book by Chip and Dan Heath called Switch How to Change Things When Change is Hard. It's a must read for everyone. Below is a passage that I am quoting to help encourage me through this trying time. " You have to back up your destination postcard with a good behavioral script. That's a recipe for success. What you don't need to do is anticipate every turn in the road between today and the destination. It's not that plotting the whole journey is undesirable, it's that it's impossible. To think that you can plot a turn-by-turn map to the end, like a leader's version of Mapquest, is almost certainly hubris. When you're at the beginning, don't obsess about the middle, because the middle is going to look different once you get there. Just look for a strong beginning and a strong ending and get moving."- Switch, How to Change Things When Change is Hard, Chip & Dan Heath As I am moving in some direction, which I hope is forward. I think about this new baby growing in me. How much change is rapidly occurring everyday for that little guy. He not worried about which doctor will deliver him or which hospital he will pop out of, that just me worrying. He taking change, one day at a time, same way mom should. Who said kids don't teach their parents. Share early, share often! Liz
So, last week I put together a list of ideas to cook for the week. Ya, something a little more organized and what a good parent does. Well, my family like it. My husband was asking by Saturday what the surprise dessert was. Humphrey Menu Board Slow- Cooker Cheesy Chicken & Potatoes Taco Bake Cheesy Grilled BBQ Chichen Wraps Orange-BBQ Chicken with Grilled Vegetables Crock-Pot Ravioli Casserole Dessert Quick Cake Bites Oreo Cheesecake Bites Chocolate Chunk Marshmallow Sundae Drink Homemade Shirley Temple :) Hope you try out last week menu. Hit was the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches and Taco Bites.
At Easter we surprised our children with this letter in their Easter baskets. A planned trip to Disney World this summer. I can't believe it came and went already. We had a great time.
I finished a project. Ya.. My entry way is always a work in progress. I was ready to change it up. So this what I did. Took one of are old windows and just washed it up. No paint, no repair work. Just as is. I figure out how to use my new Silhouette machine, which I got in January. Cut out vinyl H letter. Placed it in middle of window frame. Rip pages out of this dictionary from dollar store. Highlight words that represent our family. Tape it on and put a cardboard backing on it. Attached a wire hanging mount to back. I love it and it's boldness when you enter the house. The old license plates are from 1920 and 1922. I found then when I was cleaning the barn out. I thought they were just neat. Inspiration: Brown Paper Packages Blog Share early, share often! Liz
I have a love hate relationship when it comes to cooking. I am not terrible but I not good. My mother has the cooking gene and I believe my 3 sisters have got most of that gene. I do try but usually stick to what I am comfortable with and I know my family will eat. But this summer, I am being a little more adventurous. My goal is to try at least ONE new recipe a week. It's week 2 and I doing pretty good. Even excited to cook, which is a hard thing to do sometimes. Menu Board Slow Cooker Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches Crispy Cheddar Chicken Slow Cooker Pineapple Chicken Chicken Ranch Quesadillas / Tac0 Bites Ham & Cheese Sliders Dessert Board Trifle in a jar Cheesecake-stuffed Strawberries Anything sound yummy.... if you have any good summer recipe please share!
This summer I have been playing school just like I would when I was a little girl. Instead of baby dolls and stuffed animals as my students, I have 2 beautiful children, mine! Calendar time is usually something we start with. I found this neat calendar at Walmart. All the pieces are magnetic so I bought 2 clip boards ($2.00) and used magnetic and chalkboard paint. It works perfect. The other fun learning activity the kids are enjoying are make the alphabet letters into animal shapes. Sam is learning them, while Isabella is learning to write them and their sounds. "Share early. Share often."~ Liz
